PRAYER REQUESTS
-STEADFAST FAITH
Toward the end of September our village has been enduring a trial and that has resulted in the deepest level of grief, darkness and brokenness. Pray that those who believe in Christ would not run out of fear or be silenced but would be bold, stand for what is right and love like Christ. Pray for those who are confused and hurting for the truth of the Gospel to permeate their hardened hearts.
-LANGUAGE LEARNING
Even though I have officially checked out of formal language study - I am still learning and growing in my ability to communicate on a deep level. Pray the Lord will continue to open up my ears to hear the nuances of the language and loosen my tongue to fluently speak it. Pray my pride doesn’t win the day and that I continue to build deep friendships with the people here.
-TIME WITH TEAMMATES
My teammates are here until October 15th. Please pray for Bob and his translation helpers as he finishes content checking the last 1,600 verses of the Old Testament. Pray for Noby and I as we set up a new literacy class and create a new post-literacy program and work with the women. Pray the Lord gives us wisdom as we assess and prayerfully seek the Lord
-HEALTH
Here it seems like there is always a sickness or a sore getting brewing to become a big deal. These become huge distractions and hinderances to the work.
-APATHY
Please join us in praying against apathy here in the village. It is easy in communal living for everyone to follow the crowd. So, when everyone is motivated and here and excited, there is potential of so much being accomplished but when some grow apathetic or lazy it is also easy for everyone to fall into that same mindset.
PRAISES
-I am continually grateful for the handful of women who are working with me daily to develop lessons and bible studies for the women here. I love processing God’s Word with them and working alongside of them in creating these lessons.
-Praise God for how He is growing our women’s Bible study times and that each week more and more women are coming.
-Praise the Lord for how the kids, youth and adults are all eager to grow in their ability to read and write. Their interest has really pushed me and praying the Lord gives me wisdom on how to continue to help grow their comprehension skills.
-Thankful for my sending church, Arbor Road, my supporting churches, Hume Community, The Well Kingsburg and Grace Fellowship. I cannot imagine doing this without you. Thank you for praying, for giving, for encouraging and for laboring with me for the growth of the Lord’s church here in Papua New Guinea.
-In September I had to be evacuated from the village due to a contingency issue and I found myself grateful for the support team here in PNG, pilots, leadership, etc and for all my supporters who made the hard decision easier by helping to carry the financial burden.
